Talk -Thomas Chippendale: A Celebration Of His Life

May 1, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm BST

£4

Thomas Chippendale: A Celebration Of His Life & Wonderful Craftsmanship on the 300th Anniversary of his birth in Otley:   with Ruth Martin

Ruth’s illustrated talk explains why Chippendale was so important in the history of design. We will also hear about his life and how his business suffered from the aristocracy’s reluctance to pay their bills on time.

The talk is an excellent introduction to the current exhibition at Leeds City Museum and to his work for our local stately homes at Temple Newsam, Harewood House & Nostell Priory.

Ruth, who is Exhibitions Curator at Leeds Museum, has organised the excellent free exhibition of Chippendale’s work at Leeds City Museum (top floor exhibition room) until June 9th.

Admission:  ACS Members Free Non-members £4.00*

*   Annual membership £10 for 4 talks – join on the night.
