DESCRIPTION:Family Tree Template 2015 \nHOUSE & FAMILY HISTORY COURSE AT RAWDON COMMUNITY LIBRARY \nStarts Thursday 5th October \nA New House & Family History Course begins on Thursday 5th October at Rawdon Community Library at 1.30pm. \n The Workers’ Educational Association will be running the course and the tutor is Jackie Depelle. It is being promoted by Aireborough Civic Society and the Rawdon Community Library. \nThe course is for those researching their family history or the history of their house. It is suitable for beginners and those with some experience. This is a great opportunity to find out about your ancestors and local history. \nRecent television exposure has increased interest in\, and awareness of house history research. Our course will use a variety of sources to study a particular property\, follow the lives of the people who lived there and see elements of local history that can be discovered through the records. \n5 week course meets every fortnight from 4th October: Cost £35. \nIf you wish to join our course go to this link:\nWEA Enrolment Link:\nhttps://enrolonline.wea.org.uk/online/coursesearch.aspx\nOr telephone WEA Leeds Area Office: Tel. 0113 245 3304 \nOr for further information tel: 0113 2503580 \nTo help with individual research Rawdon Library has a subscription to the ‘Find My Past’ & ‘British Newspaper Archive’ websites. This means that course members and other library users can research old censuses\, birth\, death & marriage certificates for free at the library during opening hours. You may find that your ancestors have appeared in newspapers using the online British Newspaper Archive.\nThe Wharfedale Observer has recently been added to the Newspaper Archive so that local news from Victorian Times is now available to all.

SUMMARY:Training - FREE Family History 6 session Course

We will also look at major genealogy websites including those freely available at the venue. \nThis NEW 6 week FREE Family History course at Rawdon Community Library starts on Thursday 4th May and continues fortnightly until 6th July. \nThose who wish to attend this course tutored by Jackie Depelle will need to enroll  on the WEA Website as soon as possible as places are limited.  It will be suitable for those new to Family History and to those already doing research.    Rawdon Library subscribes to both the ‘Find My Past’ website and the ‘British Newspaper Archive’\, enabling members of the course to follow up course suggestions and investigating their own family and local history. \nLink:   https://enrolonline.wea.org.uk/Online/CourseSearchResults.aspx?Page=5 \nWEA Leeds Area Office:  Tel. 0113 245 3304 \n\n\n\nWEA \nenrolonline.wea.org.uk \nWorkers’ Educational Association (WEA) – Adult Learning Course Provider UK\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Litter Pick -Aireborough Civic Society Annual Litter Picks
DESCRIPTION:Aireborough Civic Society has organised 2 Litter Picks for Saturday 1st & Tuesday 4th April 2017\n10am – 12.30pm.\n\nThis is our chance to make Aireborough a more pleasant place to live.\n\nIn  our experience  most streets in built up areas are mainly litter free\, and it is often areas in the countryside and ginnels that are spoilt by lots of litter.\n\nWe have cleared the roadsides along Cemetery Road (next to Yeadon Tarn) on several occasions\, including  April 2015 when we collected an amazing 40 bags of litter (Pictures attached)!!   We also filled many bags with litter from the path on the old Yeadon branch railway.\n \nSAT 1st APRIL: MEETING PLACE: NEXT TO YEADON WESTFIELD SCHOOL NR. A65C BY THE CYCLE PATH ALONG THE  OLD RAILWAY TRACK.\n \nTUES 4th APRIL:  MEETING PLACE:   CAR PARK NEXT TO YEADON TARN ON CEMETERY ROAD at 10am\n\nPlease bring gloves and have suitable footwear – as parts could be muddy.   Litter pickers and Hi-Viz jackets will be provided.\n\nIt would be helpful (but not essential) to know how many will be helping.   Please e-mail if you can help.\n\nPS.  Please send suggestions for areas that need attention.    Details of those places we do not clear will be passed on to Leeds City Council.
