SUMMARY:Training - FREE Family History 6 session Course
DESCRIPTION:Family History – Essential Steps: FREE 6 session Course at Rawdon Library from 4th May\nDates:  Thurs afternoons 1.30 – 3.30pm:  May 4th\, May 18th\, June 1st\, June 15th\, June 29th\,  and  July 6th \nSome of you may have attended the Family History &  Newspaper Archive Talk before Christmas at Rawdon Community Library and thought about starting on or progressing your family tree and finding out about your ancestors.    Or you may live in an old house and want to know more about the people who lived there in the past. \nRawdon Library has already subscribed to the ‘Find My Past’ & ‘British Newspaper Archive’ websites and library users can research for free at the library during opening hours.   However it can be complicated at times and therefore we wanted to help people in a structured way.  We now have the chance to do that. \nThe Workers’ Educational Association (WEA)\, locally based at Swarthmore in Leeds\, is kindly financing a free 6 week Family History Course at Rawdon Library course for us\, with the hope that it will continue next Autumn and Winter. \nOnline enrolment is up and running.    I am sending this information to Library Volunteers\, members of Aireborough Civic Society and those on our e-mailing list before information and publicity  to the general public next Thursday.   Demand could be high  and there are obviously a limited number of places. \nWEA Enrolment Link:  https://enrolonline.wea.org.uk/online/coursesearch.aspx \nEnter the course reference: C3670666 and you should get to the course and be able to enrol. \n——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————- \n  \nFrom the WEA website: \n “Family History – Essential Steps” – a Workers’ Educational Association (WEA)  Course at Rawdon Community Library this  Spring & Summer \nFamily History-Essential Steps \nRef: C3670666 \nAn introductory course covering the essential steps for researching Family and Local History\, including recording\, civil registration\, census and elements of Parish Registers. We will also look at major genealogy websites including those freely available at the venue. \nThis NEW 6 week FREE Family History course at Rawdon Community Library starts on Thursday 4th May and continues fortnightly until 6th July. \nThose who wish to attend this course tutored by Jackie Depelle will need to enroll  on the WEA Website as soon as possible as places are limited.  It will be suitable for those new to Family History and to those already doing research.    Rawdon Library subscribes to both the ‘Find My Past’ website and the ‘British Newspaper Archive’\, enabling members of the course to follow up course suggestions and investigating their own family and local history. \nLink:   https://enrolonline.wea.org.uk/Online/CourseSearchResults.aspx?Page=5 \nWEA Leeds Area Office:  Tel. 0113 245 3304 \n\n\n\nWEA \nenrolonline.wea.org.uk \nWorkers’ Educational Association (WEA) – Adult Learning Course Provider UK\n\n\n\n  \n
